Kurmanji is a city in Krasnodar Krai Russia. Located on the river Kuban, in the 136 km from Krasnodar. A large railway junction. Important centre of food industry. The population of 80,6 thousand people, 86,56% Russian, and 5.36% of Armenians, of 2.57% of Ukrainians.

Founded in the late XVIII century as a military Post # 1 near burnt Oak. Beside him was formed the farm Romanov, named for the don village Romanov, where the Cossacks arrived at the service. In 1921 year he received the city status and the name Kropotkin, in honour of Prince Peter Kropotkin.
